Fire Resistance Testing Services

A fire resistance test evaluates the ability of a material or structure to withstand exposure to fire. These tests are essential for ensuring safety in buildings, transportation, and other applications. Here are some fire resistance tests that we can provide with HOKLAS accreditation:

Fire Resistance Rating (FRR): This measures how long a material or assembly can withstand fire exposure. The rating is expressed in minutes (e.g., 1-hour FRR, 2-hour FRR). Commonly tested materials include walls, doors, and floors.

Fire Testing Services for Protective Net, Screen or Tarpaulin and Plastic Sheeting

We provide testing services for the fire-retardant performance of properties of protective nets, screens, tarpaulins, and plastic sheeting, our electronic reports also provide systematic verification and tracking in accordance with the Buildings Department Practice Note*.

Fire Testing for Construction Materials

1. GB 5725-2009 – Safety nets (or formerly GB 16909-1997 – Fine mesh safety vertical net);
2. BS 5867-2:2008 (Type B performance requirements) – Fabrics for curtains, drapes and window blinds – Part 2: Flammability requirements – Specification; and
3. NFPA 701:2023 (Test Method 2) – Standard methods of fire tests for flame propagation of textiles and films.
